Assessment of Barooga Water Treatment Plant

Level 2 & Level 3 Inspection, Structural & Durability Assessment, and Repair Design Associated With Cost Analysis for Barooga Water Treatment Plant

Project Scope

Level 3 Inspection & Structural Assessment of Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Water Tank (Flocculation and Filter Tanks).

GFRP is a laminate material consisting of a synthetic resin system usually polyester, epoxy, furan, and vinyl ester reinforced with glass fibres.

The objective of the site inspection and condition assessment of the GFRP Tank is expressed as follows:

  • Detailed inspection to identify visible defects
  • Undertaking Pulse-Echo Ultrasonic Scanning (Tomography Survey) of the structure to investigate the internal defects within the Material
  • Undertaking Ultrasonic Technology to measure the thickness of the wall of the tank
  • Current condition assessment of the structure
  • Prediction of the residual service life of the structure
  • Providing repair options and recommendations
