PROJECT SCOPE:
- Developed a finite element model of the retaining (noise) walls using SPACEGASS software.
- Determined retaining wall dimensions in accordance with TfNSW Drawing R0720-05.
- Applied relevant load cases, including backfill soil pressures, live loads, and surcharge loads.
- Performed comprehensive stability assessments, including:
- Sliding stability – evaluation of potential base sliding.
- Overturning stability – assessment of rotational failure risk.
- Bearing capacity – verification of foundation soil capacity to safely support imposed loads.
- Designed an appropriate drainage system to mitigate hydrostatic pressure build-up and ensure effective stormwater management.
- Ensured compliance with the relevant Australian Standards, including:
- AS 1170.0:2002 – Structural Design Actions, Part 0: General Principles
