Assessment Approach
TechnoCrete’s Assessment and Diagnosis service is grounded in engineering precision.
By combining field investigation and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) with structural FE modelling, load-bearing capacity calculations, and service life prediction, TechnoCrete delivers clear and actionable insights into asset behaviour and long-term performance.
We aim not only to identify problems but to provide the engineering intelligence required to manage assets and infrastructures safely, efficiently, and sustainably throughout their lifecycle.
The assessment process begins with detailed visual inspections carried out by experienced structural engineers. This includes identifying signs of distress such as cracking, corrosion, deflection, spalling, leakage, and material degradation.
These inspections form the foundation of our condition assessment, allowing us to map damage, classify severity, and identify potential causes of deterioration.
TechnoCrete employs a wide range of non-destructive testing techniques to evaluate the internal condition of structural elements without causing damage. These methods provide critical insights into material integrity and hidden defects.
Typical NDT techniques include but not limited to:
- Rebound hammer testing (RH)
- Ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV)
- Ultrasonic-Pulse Echo (UPE)
- Ground-penetrating radar (GPR)
- Corrosion Monitoring and Measurement of Corrosion Parameters such as Corrosion Potential, Resistivity, and Corrosion Current Density
- Cover meter surveys
- Infrared thermography using Drone
These tools allow us to assess reinforcement condition, concrete quality, voids, and other hidden structural issues with high accuracy.
We implement intelligent monitoring systems that provide continuous tracking of structural behaviour, allowing early detection of weaknesses and proactive maintenance planning.
Load-Bearing Capacity Evaluation
A key component of our service is the determination of the load-bearing capacity of existing structures. We assess whether structures can safely continue to carry current loads or accommodate proposed changes in use, loading, or configuration.
This includes evaluating:
- Ultimate and serviceability limit states
- Strength reduction due to deterioration
- Structural redundancy and load distribution
- Safety margins under current conditions
Service Life Modelling and Prediction
TechnoCrete provides advanced service life modelling and prediction to estimate the remaining useful life of structures based on observed conditions, environmental exposure, and material deterioration mechanisms.
This predictive approach enables asset owners to:
- Plan maintenance and rehabilitation strategies
- Prioritise interventions based on risk
- Optimise lifecycle costs
- Extend service life safely and efficiently
